UK, is not the country in your mind. But actually refers to the "mall" or "department store" of the most practical of people. UK is the UKAY-UKAY.

The word UK was popularized in a tv ad few years back referring to the long-existing UKAY-UKAY stores/stalls --- in that advertisement, a mother bought a gown for her daughter who was joining a certain contest. The mother told her daughter that she bought the said gown from UK, which means from the street stalls, the UKAY-UKAY.
